Our goal
Tasked with continuing last year's fantastic project, "Heart of the Matter," our group endeavored to improve and expand upon the device's functionality, packaging our new design as a high performance device that will allow athletes to "Work Smarter, Not Harder."
The RSL10 (a SoC bluetooth device) communicates via SPI with the AFE4490s, which flash their respective LEDs in succession. The photodiode converts the amount of reflected light, subtracting for the effect of ambient light. These values are sent back to the RSL10, which places the data in flash storage. The accelerometer accounts for movement that that impacts the data, and that is paired with the PD readings. The data is sent to a computer, via Bluetooth, for post-processing in MATLAB.
